GOOD OLD GARZ
goes back a long way
once the folks here were known
by the name of Rugii & Rani
who built the huge burgwall ring
to keep out intruders
while worshipping their
four-headed Svantovit
the Danish King Valdemar
put an end to all that
the Germans later put
an end to Danish rule
& while the Cohn family thought
they’d live a peaceful life in Garz
bad old Adolf’s men stopped
by & decided otherwise
but even the worst of times drift
on into the foggy ruins of history
& so to any tourist just passing
through this sleepy old town
it may well be GOOD OLD GARZ.
